She’s always watching me.

Anytime you try to lose weight and start a new lifestyle it is very difficult. It’s even more difficult when you start adding in extra factors that are bound and determined to cause you to fail. Some days it feels impossible to keep myself on track with all the negative outside influences trying to hedge their way in. But today I noticed that not only is my healthy eating helping me, but it’s affecting those around me, my friends and family.

This morning my daughter raced downstairs from her room at my mothers house, insisting that I make her “dinner”. Dinner to her is every meal that mom has to make and she is not the most patient waiting for it either. I sleepily prepared her ones of her favorites, cheesy eggs, and put a couple strawberries and some avocado chunks on her plate. My daughter is obsessed with avocado and would eat 1-2 of them at any given time and I have to be careful with her because most of the time she steals all of mine off my plate. Not every breakfast is keto for her in my house, some days it’s french toast or pancakes but a lot of the time it’s filled with healthy choices and that makes me proud as a mother.

Even though some days you feel like you aren’t seeing any changes, the scale won’t move, you still can’t get into that little black dress, just remember… your actions are always affecting someone even if you aren’t seeing the changes personally. By me choosing this lifestyle, maybe I will make a difference in my children’s future and they will grow up with a healthier relationship with food. Every ounce of effort and sacrifice is worth it when I consider how many people I touch and affect with my actions.

“Seeing unhealthy patterns in your family and deciding that those patterns end with you and will not be passed down to future generations, is an extremely brave & powerful decision.”

Your time always feels short, your list is always long, and you have no idea how you are going to accomplish everything in this new crazy world of 2020. I mean, come on, homeschooling, the cleaning, the masks, the regulations, the RULES… it’s enough to drive any mother (or father, I see you dads) completely insane. It’s amazing there is any alcohol left on the shelves after we started our first week back to school with all of the stressed out parents (I’m not even dealing with school and I have considered buying them out!). Just know that I see you, I know what you are going through. We all struggle, stumble and fall but it’s the act of getting yourself back up and trying again that will get you to the finish line. Do it not only for yourself, but for those mini-me’s that are always watching you. Our kids learn by our example and when we show them a clean lifestyle, a healthy relationship with food, a self respect for our bodies… they see it and they will imitate it. Be the example, be the inspiration, be the change… I believe in you.

“Your kids watch you for a living. It’s their job; it’s what they do. That’s why it’s so important to try your best to be a good role model.”
